Filming in public spaces
For editorial shoots and small productions (<10 people) in public spaces, a filming permit is not necessary.
For requests to film in public areas which could disturb or obstruct the movement of persons or road traffic, or require private parking spaces, productions should seek authorisation from the relevant police station and local authority. The application should be made in advance within a reasonable period of time depending on the scale of the production. (min. 1 month in advance).
Filming in private spaces (inside & outside)
Requests to film in private spaces (e.g. museums and their grounds) are subject to prior approval in advance by the owner or manager of the site. The application should be made in advance within a reasonable period of time depending on the scale of the production (min. 10 working days in advance).
Filming with a drone
In Montreux Riviera public spaces and in the absence of municipal regulations, the use of drones is governed by Swiss law as follows: https://www.bazl.admin.ch/bazl/en/home/good-to-know/drones-and-aircraft-models.html
The use of a drone above a private space (interior and exterior) requires prior authorisation from the owner or manager of the site.
Moreover, generally speaking, Montreux-Vevey Tourisme recommends keeping flights above public spaces to a minimum by taking top-down shots from above Lake Geneva.
