Old Town of Montreux
Clinging to the steep slopes at the edge of the forest, the Old Town seems lost on the heights. Yet it does not take more than ten minutes walking from the lakeside to this picturesque area. And what a view! At the corner of an alley or a shop, lake, mountains and forests create a landscape that never ceases to surprise.
In Veytaux, near Montreux, Chillon Castle has stood proudly on its rocky island since the 12th century, appearing to float on the surface of Lake Geneva. Home to regular exhibitions and cultural events, it’s the most visited historical monument in Switzerland.
