From the station of Les Avants (960 m.), go back on the road to Chamby for 200 metres and look out for a staircase on the right which continues on a ledge path (superb view!) which arrives at Fiaudire. Go down a path to the road to Azot (about 70 metres), then turn right up the road to a small group of houses. Pass between the houses and shortly afterwards, on the right, a path climbs up to the Cubly ridge - the highest point of the route at 1188 m. There is a beautiful view of the lake and the towns of a large part of the Lake Geneva region. From Azot to the Cubly ridge, the climb is short, but tough! From the crest, leave with your back to the lake to go to Sonloup. At the beginning, the path is not very clear, but becomes so after 150 metres, passing through a small gully that you cross after a few yards. From Sonloup, you can return to Les Avants: either by the road, or partially by a somewhat uneven path that leaves to the left of the road (at the Sonloup crossroads).
Anecdote: Les Avants was one of the first famous winter sports resorts in the Alps. Until the beginning of the 20th century, it even rivalled resorts such as Chamonix or St-Moritz. A venerable symbol of this era, its mythical toboggan run still delights slide enthusiasts today.
