In the summer, l'Espace de la Papille in the beautiful Lavaux village of St-Saphorin welcomes wine enthusiasts and passing guests for wine tastings hosted in turn by around ten local winemakers.
A jewel of the Lavaux region with a long history, St-Saphorin is one of the most beautiful villages in Switzerland. Its emblematic church is listed as a national monument. With stone houses on several levels, the village is blessed with a spectacular setting between Lake Geneva, the Alps and the Lavaux vineyards, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site.
The St-Saphorin producers know how to create the finest nectar from these vineyard terraces, predominantly a dry, mineral white wine with the chasselas grape. So these fine wines can be enjoyed with the makers, l'Espace de la Papille Wine bar offers tastings from May to October, from Friday to Sunday between 4 and 7 p.m.. About ten St-Saphorin winemakers take turns every weekend to serve and present their wines. The Caveau des vignerons de St-Saphorin can be booked for bigger groups of 25 to 60 people.
To complement the tasting experience, wine tourism enthusiasts can enjoy a guided tour around the village and a trip on the Lavaux-Panoramic, the little tourist train which winds its way through the terraced vineyards.
