Vevey History Museum
It is the aim of the History Museum to preserve the heritage of Vevey and its surrounding region. This charming museum proposes varied exhibitions covering regional themes and original collections.
Founded in 1897, the Vevey History Museum occupies the rooms of Vevey Castle. This 19th century building, which used to be called “Belle-Maison”, was the residence of the Bernese bailiffs. In this historical setting, the museum collections revive their past from Celtic to modern times.
Objects, documents and countless iconographic testimonies are exhibited in a manner that respects the character of the building.
Furniture items from Switzerland and the Lake Geneva Region, crafts, ancient weapons, medal collections, manuscripts, engravings and paintings by Swiss Petits Maîtres represent the main body of the permanent exhibition, which also comprises a unique collection of keys, locks and ancient caskets that are particularly remarkable.
