Wine Train, Vevey - Chexbres (Lavaux)
The Wine Train connects Vevey to Puidoux via the Lavaux vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The regional train linking Vevey to Puidoux is called “Wine Train”. It runs along a dream route: the terraced Lavaux vineyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site above Lake Geneva and opposite the Alps. It runs daily and once an hour along this breathtaking route.
At Chexbres station, hikers are spoilt for choice: there are countless paths criss-crossing the slopes of the prestigious terraced vineyard. A didactic, marked footpath describes the history of the vineyard and its grape varieties.
Departing from Chexbres, the “Lavaux Panoramic”, a train on rubber tires, takes visitors along narrow vineyard paths. While admiring the spectacular scenery, visitors receive information on the region's characteristics throughout the journey. Winegrowers give a warm welcome to passing visitors, inviting them to wine tastings (mainly Chasselas) in their cellars.
