Images of the Chablais, seen from the sky as never before! This exhibition brings together photographs of the 20th century and the same angles of view taken today.
Images of the Chablais, seen from the sky as never before! This exhibition brings together Alphonse Kammacher's work between the first half of the 20th century and 1960 with a camera used in the army during the 1920s. The camera used heavy and fragile glass plates, format 13 x 18 cm. This material, already outdated at the time of Alphonse Kammacher, however guaranteed an excellent quality of shooting and thus, a great durability.
As a comparison, the Museum presents the same angles of view, but photographed between 2015 and 2016 by Jean-Michel Zellweger, pilot and photographer. Sometimes almost a hundred years separate the different views. They show how the landscape has been altered by decades of urbanization. Other artists helped to complete this work, including Gérard Berthoud, a passionate photographer from Troistorrents for some of the images of the Valais presented in the exhibition.
