Swiss Game Museum
The castle of the Counts of Savoy in Tour-de-Peilz was transformed into the Swiss Game Museum in 1987. And it was no wager...
The pleasure of playing all kinds of games is perpetrated in the Swiss Game Museum. It plays host to a Scrabble championship, gives visitors an introduction to Awélé, bridge, poker, chess and backgammon tournaments; there is also croquet, games of skill, role-playing; unique games and juggling. The Museum also organises game workshops for kids. In the attic, there is a historical collection of games from Antiquity to today, whereas the ground floor is used for events.
An open-air walk interspersed with games, between the ramparts and the castle opposite Lake Geneva has been installed. Gaming makes you hungry? The Domino Restaurant in the former home of the estate’s gardener caters to your needs.
This museum expresses its goal in a playful way: to promote the cultivation of games as an element of worldwide cultural heritage.
