Newspapers
French-speaking Switzerland has about fifteen daily newspapers, for a population of some 1.5 million inhabitants. The French media are available in most main kiosks.
Television
French-speaking Switzerland has two television channels: “Télévision Suisse Romande 1” (TSR1) and “Télévision Suisse Romande 2” (TSR2). However, just about everywhere, one can also receive the other national channels (German and Italian language) and the three main French channels (TF1, France 2 and France 3). The Montreux Riviera region also has a local channel, “La Télé”, covering the Cantons of Vaud and Fribourg.
The cable network (with around forty international channels) covers most of the area.
Televised news, including the weather forecast, is broadcast at 12.45 and 19.30.
Radio
Radio Suisse Romande offers three stations: “La Première” (general public), “Espace 2” (cultural) and “Couleur 3” (trendy).
The news with the roads situation and the weather are broadcast every hour in full. More complete news programmes with features are broadcast at 7.00, 8.00, 9.00, 12.30 and 18.00.
