Lavaux's wine

The Lavaux vineyards stretch from Lausanne to Chillon and are typical for their terraces, where the sun dispenses its warmth and light generously.

These vineyards, listed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage, comprise 830 hectares and 7 production centres.

The great majority of vintners produces from Chasselas grapes and varies a lot from each other, depending if they are by the lake, near a forest or on terraces supported by thick walls. The reds are varieties of Pinot-Gamay and Pinot noir with some specialities here and there.

Its wines are structured and complex, characterised for their persistence and often with overtones of honey and grilled flavours. These wines are often tasted as an aperitif or with cheese-based dishes.
